What is the Boater Education Card?

The Boater Education Certificate is proof that you have successfully completed all components of an approved boater safety course through CertifiedBoater. While Alaska does not require boating education, the card allows boating in states that do require certification and may help you save on boating insurance.

You Must Carry the Card

Vessel operators who are required to have the Alaska Boater Card must carry the CertifiedBoater-issued card on board and have it available for inspection by enforcement officers. Not carrying your Alaska Boater Card when required can result in a fine.

Reciprocity

CertifiedBoater's education cards meet NASBLA requirements and are recognized by all states, territories, and provinces. Canadian Pleasure Craft Operator Cards that meet Transport Canada's requirements are also recognized (known as "reciprocity").
